That Public Schools Are Making Every Single Day!
by Amanda van der Gulik
As a homeschooling parent, we are doing something for our children that is imperative to our children's futures that our current public schools today are failing at miserably!
So what is this imperative thing we are doing that is giving our children 100% better odds of having a happy future than those who have to go to school and never get the joy of experiencing?
We allow our kids to fail!
Yup! Sounds pretty simple and a little negative doesn't it?
Well, it's not! You are actually not only doing your child a favour by letting them fail but you are helping our whole world by doing so!
Nowadays, in the public schools, children are no longer needing to learn how to fail. They are allowed to pass, to be praised, and never have to deal with the negative pressures of failing.
Why is that a detriment to their future lives?
Because once they leave the security of the forgiving public school system, they will fail.
It's a fact. No one ever gets the pleasure of surviving their whole entire life without some sort of failure. We are learning beings, and how we learn best is through our failures.
You see the real problem here is that we have been lead to believe that failure is a bad thing. But its actually one of the best lessons we can ever give our child. If our child understands that failure is a fact of life, not a personal reflection on them as a human being, then they will have one of the greatest powers known to humans....the power to learn from our mistakes and make our lives better; more meaningful.
You see without failure, we would never know what success was!
How can you know what the colour red is if you have never seen light? Red doesn't exist in darkness, neither does blue or yellow. All of these are prime colour that work together with light to create the beautiful rainbow world around us.
Without light we would never see anything, and without the darkness we would never recognize the light.
We need darkness to appreciate the light, and we need light to appreciate the darkness. If we only had one, we would never learn from it, we would never grow, all our world would be grey, borring old grey, no other shades at all.
We need mistakes so we can appreciate our achievements.
If we are given an A+ in our classes without the need to work for that A+, then that mark has no meaning for us. It has not taught us anything. But if we fail at learning a subject and then are given the gift of figuring out what we got wrong, we will remember that lesson more than any other one that we got correct on the first go round.
The best lessons we ever learn are those that we learned through our failures, our trials and errors that lead to our ultimate understanding and success.
Do you look down on those who have become bankrupt? Well, you shouldn't.
What a beautiful opportunity do they have to realize what brought them to that situation and now is their chance to climb out of it and learn success like no other ever can!
When you learned how to ride your bike, did you never fall? Did you bear no scars? Probably not. Like most of us, you probably fell....a lot! But that pain, that failure, forced you to get back on top and now, even if its been years and years since you rode your bike, I bet you could still do it! Maybe not perfectly at first, but its in you. You do know how!
Its time schools stop protecting our children. Its time to let them fail and let them feel good about failing! We need to teach our children how to fail gracefully, how to feel the challenge to succeed through their failures so they will truly appreciate their wins!
As a homeschooling parent, you are blessed. You are in control of your child's life lessons, so take advantage of them, teach them how to fail gracefully.
What's the easiest way to get this message across to them? How about start by teaching them about money, about earning it themselves, through trial and error, through failure that brings them to success. Have them start their own lemonade stand, their own home-made card business. Let them learn that not everyone will be their happy customer, let them feel their pain until they find their happy customer that brings them the success they desire. Give them a life lesson that will truly serve them for life.
Here’s to both your success and your child’s! Would LOVE to hear your own success stories!
